1. Who we are

CarSense ("the app", "we") is an iOS application for AI-assisted automotive diagnostics, published by Yassine Hai (individual).

2. Data we process

2.1 Data stored locally on your device

This data never leaves your iPhone (SwiftData storage) unless you explicitly act (export, or send to the AI assistant):

• Vehicles: make, model, year, engine, mileage, fuel type.
• OBD-II data: live readings, trouble codes (DTC), freeze frames, drive recordings.
• Maintenance and trip logs: operations, dates, costs, notes.
• Conversation history with the AI assistant.
• Preferences: theme, language, displayed metrics, active subscription tier.

You can delete this data at any time from within the app, or by uninstalling the app.

2.2 Data sent to our AI assistant service

When you use the diagnostic assistant, the content required to answer is sent through our secure relay (Cloudflare Worker) to Anthropic's API (Claude):

• the message(s) you type or dictate;
• the relevant technical context (trouble codes, OBD values, vehicle profile, maintenance log excerpts) you chose to share;
• your device language (to answer in your language).

Our relay server only protects our API key and forwards the request; it does not store your message content.

2.3 "Diagnostic Patterns" database (anonymous)

To improve diagnostic relevance, the app may record anonymized observations tied to a vehicle type (make / model / year and symptom patterns), with no personally identifiable information.

2.4 Microphone and speech recognition

The voice feature uses Apple's dictation and speech synthesis services. Depending on device settings, speech recognition may be processed on Apple's servers. CarSense keeps no audio recordings.

2.5 Subscriptions

Purchases are handled exclusively by Apple via the App Store. We never receive or store payment card data. We only receive your subscription status from StoreKit (active / expired / tier).

3. What we do not do

• No account, no in-app email or password collection.
• No advertising, no ad trackers, no data resale.
• No location tracking.

These providers may process data outside the European Union (notably the United States), under appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses).

5. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Service delivery: performance of the contract.
• Service improvement (anonymous patterns): legitimate interest.
• Optional features (microphone): your consent, revocable in iOS Settings.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Most are exercised directly in the app (deleting local data). For any other request: admin.carsense@gmail.com.

7. Children

CarSense is not intended for users under 16 and does not knowingly collect their data.

8. Changes

Any update to this policy will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
